COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT BY THE MCE

As part of the Jomoro Municipal Assembly’s commitment to strengthening and promoting inclusive development, Hon. Benedict Boadi, Municipal Chief Executive for Jomoro Municipal Assembly embarked on a community visitation and engagement from Tuesday, 26th August 2025 to Thursday, 28th August 2025 to interact with Nananom, Hon. Assembly Members Opinion leaders and members of the communities on developmental issues and challenges facing them. PRESENCETwo hundred (200) men and three hundred and seventy (370) women made up the group of five hundred and seventy (570) people who participated in the community engagement. They comprised the Jomoro Municipal Assembly personnel, religious leaders, opinion leaders, DRIP Coordinator, fishermen, traders, security guards, farmers, hairdressers, artisans, and members of the community. Boadi recognized the ongoing assistance from the government and expressed appreciation to the MP for her efforts in obtaining initiatives and projects that were slowly changing the municipality.He guaranteed the audience that their issues would stay at the forefront the development plan.

PETROLEUM HUB DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION ENGAGES WITH MANAGEMENT AND STAFF OF THE JOMORO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

On Thursday, April 9, 2026, The Chief Executive Dr. Toni Aubynn, of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), met with the management and staff of the Jomoro Municipal Assembly to provide updates on the Petroleum Hub project. The meeting focused on timelines and land acquisition, following a reduction in the project’s land size from 20,000 acres to 12,300 acres (5,000 hectares). Dr. Aubynn began his engagements with a courtesy call on the Western Regional House of Chiefs, where he assured traditional leaders that the downsizing would not affect the project’s viability. He further disclosed that officials from the Lands Commission and PHDC would commence a series of exercises in the Jomoro enclave next week. The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Benedict Boadi, reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting the smooth implementation of the project. He stressed that the Assembly would ensure all local processes are fully harnessed and pledged to prevent encroachment on the designated lands. He added that the Assembly would collaborate with traditional authorities, security agencies, and other stakeholders to safeguard the project area.

69TH INDEPENDENCE DAY ANNIVERSARY

The Jomoro Municipal Assembly celebrated the 69th Independence Day Anniversary on Friday, 6th March 2026 under the theme ‘’ Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope’’ at Nawule Catholic JHS Park.The Anniversary was dignified by the presence of Awulae Amakyi III, Paramount Chief of the Western Nzema Traditional Area and special guest of honor for the anniversary, Hon. Dorcas Affo Toffey, MP, Jomoro Constituency,Hon. Benedict Boadi Arde, MCE for Jomoro Municipal, Mr. Josepg A Abugre, Municipal Coordinating Director for Jomoro Municipal Assembly, Mrs. Edith Mary Hagan, Municipal Education Director, Hon. Francis Kennedy Yankey, Presiding Member for Jomoro Municipal Assembly, Hon. Assembly Members, Heads of the Security Services, Religious Leaders, and Nananom. PARTICIPATING SCHOOLSThe participating schools included What Man Academy, Bonyere Bonyere Catholic Primary & JHS, Ezinlibo Primary & JHS, Nawule Catholic Primary & JHS, Tikobo No. 1 ‘B’ JHS amongh others.At the end of the march past, Bonyere Catholic JHS emerge the winner.Awards were given to candidates who exceled in the 2025 WASSCE Examination.

The Western Regional Minister, Honourable Joseph Nelson, on Thursday 5th February 2026 embarked on a working visit to the Jomoro Municipal Assembly in the company of the Acting Regional Co-ordinating Director and other members of his entourage.The visit formed part of his itinerary to visit all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region and provide him with the opportunity to engage the management and staff of the Assembly to acquaint himself with their work environment.As part of the programme, the Hon. Regional Minister paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief, Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III, at Beyin.

CROSS- BORDER FP/HIV CAMPAIGN HELD AT ELUBO

Ghana Health Services, with support from WAHO, on 29th January 2026 organized the cross-border FP/HIV campaign at Elubo Catholic JHS Park to provide integrated reproductive health service to border population. Some Services provided include: In attendance were Hon. Joseph Nelson, Western Regional Minister, Awulae Amakyi III, Paramount Chief of Western Nzema Traditional Council and other officials from Ivory Coast.

MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE VISITS BECE EXAMINATION CENTRES

The Municipal Chief Executive of Jomoro Municipal Assembly, Hon. Benedict Boadi, visited some Basic Education Certificate Examination Centres (BECE) across the municipality on June 11th and 12th, 2025. He was in the company of the Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency, Hon. Dorcas Affo Toffey, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Emmanuel Boateng, the Municipal Education Director, Mrs. Edith Mary Hagan, Executives of the National Democratic Congress and some officials of the Education Directorate A total number of Two Thousand, Nine Hundred and Seven (2,907) candidates, made up of One Thousand Four Hundred Seventy-Four (1,474) Boys and One Thousand Four Hundred and Thirty-Three (1,433) Girls, are writing this year’s BECE. Hon. Benedict Boadi motivated and wished all the candidates well, and assured them of his support in their future endeavours. Hon. Dorcas Affo Toffey urged the candidates not to panic while answering the questions, but to take time to understand before attempting to answer. She pledged to support the candidates, especially the girls, in continuing their education to any level they desired.

JOMORO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY ELECTS PRESIDING MEMBER AND CONFIRMS MCE

On Thursday, 8th May 2025, the Hon. Assembly Members of the Jomoro Municipal Assembly elected Hon. Francis Kennedy Yankey as the Presiding Member of the Assembly and swore in new government appointees. Out of the Forty-Six (46) total votes cast, Hon. Francis Kennedy Yankey had forty-two (42) YES votes, representing 82%. Four (4) Hon. Assembly Members voted NO, representing 17.65%. In addressing the Hon. Assembly Members, he expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and called for unity to help develop the Municipality. He reiterated his commitment to developing the Jomoro Municipality and indicated his openness to constructive suggestions and contributions. Hon. Benedict Boadi, the President’s nominee for the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) position, secured forty-five (45) Yes votes out of the Forty-Six (46) total votes cast, representing 98%. One Member voted NO, representing 2%. In a brief address, Hon. Benedict Boadi thanked the President and Assembly Members for reaffirming their trust in him to superintend over the growth and welfare of the Jomoro Municipality and called for new ideas to bring development to the Municipality. JOMORO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY ENGAGES WITH TRICYCLE OPERATORS (KƐKƐ)

In an attempt to regularise the operations of the tricycle (Kɛkɛ, Aboboyaa and Okada) business in the Municipal Capital, Half Assini, the Half Assini Zonal Council of the Jomoro Municipal Assembly on Wednesday, 2nd April 2025, engaged with the Tricycle (Kɛkɛ) Association at the Jomoro Municipal Assembly Hall, Half Assini, to discuss measures that would enhance the safety, security and work in the Municipal Capital, Half Assini. Hon. Cyril Kizito, the Chairman of the Half Assini Zonal Council, speaking to the tricycle operators, said that all tricycles in Half Assini would be embossed to ensure that they are all registered with the Zonal Council to enable the Zonal Council to have accurate data on the number of tricycles in the Municipality. He added that a city license would be issued to permit them to operate within Half Assini. He urged them to follow the directives to ensure the successful implementation of this initiative. His Worship, Mr. William Ofori Aboagye (District Magistrate) revealed that he had observed how the tricycle and motor riders flagrantly overstep the laws and disrespect other road users. He briefed them about the laws and warned that he would strictly apply the laws to any culprit who would be found culpable. He admonished them to abide by the laws to ensure safety and sanity on the roads. The Chairman of the Association expressed satisfaction with the directives and assured the Assembly that his members would stand by the directives to thwart arrests and prosecutions. He pleaded with the Assembly to ensure the engagement continues.
