The Jomoro Municipal Assembly was established in 1988 by a Legislative Instrument (LI) 1394.The Municipal Assembly is made up of 51 members comprising 34 elected Assembly Members, 15 Government Appointees.
The Assembly is responsible for local governance, development planning, revenue mobilization, and the provision of basic services within the municipality. It ensures peace, order, and socio economic development in the area.

You must submit your building plans to the Physical Planning Department for review and approval. After assessment and inspection, the necessary permits will be issued upon payment of the required fees.
Business registration can be done through the Business Advisory Centre or relevant department of the Assembly. You will be required to provide necessary documentation and pay the appropriate fees.
Concerns can be reported to the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit at the Assembly for prompt action.
Rates are paid by all property owners / occupiers, even the State.
Assemblies need a reliable source of revenue to provide basic services and perform their functions. Revenue from property rates is used to fund services that benefit the community as a whole. These include the construction and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, street lighting and storm drainage facilities; the building and operation of clinics, parks, recreational facilities, cemeteries, beaches and libraries as well as the administration of the Assembly.
Payments are due annually, with the option to pay in instalments. You may make payments at any of the Zonal Council offices, at the approved banks listed on the back of your bill, or directly to authorized revenue collectors of the Jomoro Municipal Assembly.

General Assembly meetings are scheduled periodically. Announcements are made in advance, and community members may attend as observers where permitted.
Property rate bills are released at the beginning of every year
